Actor Rajkummar Rao has made his mark in the Indian film industry with movies such as Citylights, Kai Po Che! and Aligarh, and has many a time been held as an actor to watch out for. But what many don’t know, is that this 31-year-old actor has been formally trained in Taekwondo, and is even a national-level gold medalist.
Rajkummar, who was also seen in the National Award-winning film Shahid, took to his Instagram to share glimpse of his impressive moves with fans. He posted it with the caption: Haven’t practiced for so many years. Got a football in between shots and thought of playing some Shaolin soccer ;) Seems like I should start practicing now. #Tae Kwon Do.
On Twitter, the actor wrote: For those who haven’t seen it yet. Playing Shaolin soccer in between shots. Shld start practising now. Miss TaeKwonDo.
Given the fluidity and precision with which the Queen actor — who seems to be inspired by the martial arts film Shaolin Soccer — kicked the ball mid-air, and all this after being out of practice, it certainly makes us keen to know what he’ll be capable of if he start practising again.
In fact one should not be surprised to see him do some hardcore action moves in the near future. At present, the actor has started shooting for the Tabrez Noorani-directed film Love Sonia, which also features actress Richa Chadha in the lead. The David Womark’s Indo-American production also stars Anupam Kher.
