He is all set to make his big screen debut, and actor Sunny Kaushal says the one tip he got from his brother Vicky was to be real and honest in the film industry.

Sunny, the younger brother of the “Raman Raghav 2.0” star, will be seen in Shailendra Singh’s directorial debut “Sunshine Music Tours and Travels”.

Sunny considers his 28-year-old brother as his “idol” and says the “Masaan” star is more mature than him.

“My brother has been my idol. There is only one and a half year’s difference between us but our years of growing up have been such that he is much older and mature in my eyes than his age. I am the younger child so I am more chirpy, but Vicky is much more grounded,” Sunny told PTI.

“So, he just gave me one tip and that was never to fall in the trap of ‘Oh he is doing this, so I should do that too’. Just be yourself, because honesty and reality is what people connect to. Don’t pretend anything in the industry.”

The budding actor says he was on cloud nine when he bagged the film and credits his father, renowned action director Shyam Kaushal, for pushing both the brothers to do things on their own.

“When we said we wanted to be actors, he told us, ‘Don’t be under the misconception that just because I am in the industry, you will get a star launch. I am a technician here, not a star.

“Because of the goodwill that I have earned, people might call you, offer a cup of tea but won’t invest money just because you are my son’,” he added.

Having seen the struggle and growth of his father in his career, Sunny says he has imbibed life lessons from him.

“He told us, ‘You need to earn that respect yourselves’. We were born in a chawl in Malad so we have seen our father’s growth and struggle. It has kept us grounded. We were lucky that he told us the reality and pushed us to fight our own battles. We are now much more prepared.”

Sunny is happy that well known people from the industry have wished him success for his film and that makes him feel “blessed.”

“Farah Khan, Rohit Dhawan, Shekhar (Ravjiani) and Sajid Wajid were there at our music launch and that was a huge deal for all of us. Even Nana (Patekar) and Kapil (Dev) sir blessed us during the trailer launch. I feel blessed…”

“Sunshine Music Tours and Travels” is slated to release on September 2.
