Veteran film journalist Ali Peter John met with a serious road accident on Saturday when a tanker ran over his left leg, completely crushing his toe. John who has now been admitted to Nanavati hospital will undergo amputation of his left toe.
Says a source, “The accident occurred on Saturday morning at Yari Road when a tanker ran over his left leg and crushed his toe. The tanker driver rushed him to Cooper hospital. But no one took care of him there. He was just lying in casulty ward. Then he was shifted to Nanavati for proper medical attention. He was operated on Saturday night. For the moment, there is no circulation of blood in his toe and doctors have advised amputation.”
The cost of the entire operation would range between five to six lakhs and sources say help from the film industry will arrive given the great goodwill John has accumulated over the years. For the moment, sources reveal that SRK’s team has got in touch with John and offered help.
Ali’s formidable career as a film journalist included a 37-year-long stint with Screen. Over the years, he has interviewed a generation of stars and has authored multiple books.
