Vidya Balan’s next ‘Tumhari Sulu’ has the star playing a late night RJ and the new trailer of the film elaborates this side of her character. The trailer has Vidya playing Sulochana, a housewife who is a regular caller at a radio station and has won many pressure cookers in the contests until one day, she spots an opportunity of becoming a radio jockey. Neha Dhupia plays the radio station producer in the film and has an idea of transforming the “saree-vali bhabhi to a late night RJ”. Actor Manav Kaul plays Vidya’s husband in the film along with popular Mumbai RJ Malishka who plays a radio jockey in the film.
This trailer of the film also carries a reprised version of the hit song, Hawa Hawai. The original song appeared in the 1987 film ‘Mr. India’ and had Sridevi dancing to it. The film is directed by Suresh Triveni and is all set to release on November 17.
Vidya Balan was last seen in this year’s ‘Begum Jaan’ where she played a brothel owner who is struggling to come to terms with the partition of India and Pakistan. The film wasn’t received well by the audience as well as the critics and it will be interesting to see how Vidya gets back to the box office with her second release of the year.
‘Tumhari Sulu’ is the story of a housewife who chances upon the opportunity of becoming a radio jockey and is utterly confident that she can successfully be one. The trailer shows that her husband is quite unhappy with the way she’s juggling her work and life.
