Trolled for interfaith marriage, Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal find champion in Richa Chadha: ‘Buri nazar wale tera muh faltoo’
Sonakshi Sinha's costar and actor Richa Chadha comes out in support her amid trolling. The actor slammed those criticising Sonakshi and her husband, Zaheer Iqbal for their interfaith marriage.

Moments after exchanging their vows in a civil marriage on Sunday, Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal shared dreamy pictures from their intimate ceremony on Instagram. However, the couple chose to turn off the comments section of their accounts to avoid negativity and trolling, which they’ve been facing from a certain section for days. Amid online hate, Sonakshi’s Heermandi co-star and actor Richa Chadha has come out in her support. Richa, who is married to actor Ali Fazal, posted a photo of the newlyweds on her Instagram stories, along with a note.
Richa’s note supporting Sonakshi and Zaheer read, “Dear Sona and Zaheer! I am floored by your simplicity, your commitment to each other and am so damn happy that you dance to your own tune! Didn’t get a photo with you because you were swamped, but Ali and I love your spirit!” Richa, who is currently in the last trimester of her pregnancy, attended the actor’s wedding reception in Mumbai.
She continued, “Love you enough to brave crowds in month 9! LOL. You make an amazing jodi (pair). And buri nazar wale tera muh faltoo (And to those with an evil eye, your face is worthless). Love you both. Thanks for a GREAT party, and I wish you a lifetime of happiness!!! @aslisona and iamzahero.”

Sonakshi also reacted to trolls by re-sharing Prasad Bhat’s post of her and Zaheer, which talks about ‘love is the universal language.’ Sonakshi wrote, “Truest words!! This is adorable! Thank you.”
Meanwhile, Sonakshi’s dad, actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha, also slammed trolls and urged them not to spread negativity. “Anand Bakshi saab has written about such professional protestors, ‘Kuchh to log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna. To this I would like to add, ‘Kehne waale agar bekar, bekaam-kaaj ke ho to kehna hi kaam ban jata hai (For unemployed people, this is all the work they have).’ My daughter has done nothing illegal or unconstitutional,” said the Aan actor to Times Now.
Days before Sonakshi and Zaheer tied the knot, Swara Bhasker, who received criticism for marrying Fahad Ahmad, also empathised with the Dahaad actor. In an interview with Connect Cine, the Tanu Weds Manu actor predicted a fresh wave of criticism for Sonakshi if she has a child with Zaheer.

Citing herself as an example along with Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan whose choices of names for their sons, Taimur and Jehangir, invited hate and trolling. ‘Wait and watch, when they have a child, there will be a separate debate around the child’s name. We’ve seen it happen with Kareena and Saif’s kids, and with my kid. It’s completely idiotic, but this isn’t going to end anytime soon (sic),” she added.
