Sanjay Dutt, who was released from jail on February 25, had a busy day. And after wrapping up his meetings with the media, his family in India, he took time out to facetime with his eldest daughter Trishala Dutt in the US.
Trishala, who had tweeted her excitement a day before his release, shared a picture of their facetime and welcomed her Papa Dukes back home. Trishala is Sanjay Dutt and his first wife Richa Chaddha’s daughter.
In the picture we can see Trishala getting her hair styled while Sanjay can’t stop grinning, looking almost childlike as he spoke to his eldest child.
Trishala wrote on Instagram: “look at that smile!! 🤗 on the phone with daddy dearest, had to take him to get my hair done as well for our celebration! 💁🏻 hahaah WELCOME HOME PAPA DUKES!!! #selfie I love you 😘 @dutt1”
Sanjay Dutt had surrendered in May 2013 after the apex court upheld his conviction by a special court here for possession of arms and ammunition which was part of the consignment used in the 1993 serial bomb blasts.
During the investigation and the marathon trial, he spent 18 months in jail. On July 31, 2007, the TADA court in Mumbai sentenced him to six years’ rigorous imprisonment under the Arms Act and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000.
In 2013, the Supreme Court upheld the ruling but reduced the sentence to five years, following which he surrendered to serve the remainder of his sentence.
During his imprisonment, Dutt was granted parole of 90 days in December 2013 and again for 30 days later. His release today is 103 days ahead of the end of his full prison term. (With PTI inputs)
