The Kerala Story box office collection Day 12: At Rs 156.8 cr, Adah Sharma film is the second biggest hit of the year

Director Luv Ranjan’s Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, which released in March, had finished its lifetime run at Rs 149.05 cr. The Kerala Story, according to trade estimates, is likely to cross the Rs 200 cr mark. It’ll become only the second Hindi film of the year to do so after Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, which broke box office records with collections over Rs 500 crore.

All the big releases of the year, including Salman Khan’s Eid release Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Ajay Devgn’s actioner Bholaa, Akshay Kumar’s comedy drama Selfiee, and Kartik Aaryan’s Shehzada, failed to fire big at the box office.

Starring Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani and Sonia Balani, The Kerala Story was earlier officially described as the story of more than 32,000 Kerala women who’d allegedly been radicalised by Islamic fundamentalists. However, the number was changed to three after protests began online against the misinformation being spread by the film.
