The film saw marginal growth on Sunday where it minted Rs 2 crore, according to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk.
The three-day total of the film now stands at Rs 5.12 cr, which leaves the film with little to no scope for any miracle on its first Monday, sealing its box office fate. The Great Indian Family was Vicky Kaushal’s second theatrical release of the year after Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, which emerged as the surprise hit of the year.
Battling Jawan
The Great Indian Family opened to poor reviews on Friday and had a muted release. Riding on virtually no promotions, the film opened to a mere Rs 1.4 cr at the box office. No promotions–and the absence of any chartbuster song–wasn’t the only roadblock for the film, as it also faced Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, which showed no signs of stopping even as it entered its third weekend with smashing box office collections.
Post The Great Indian Family, Vicky Kaushal will now await the release of his next, Sam Bahadur. The Meghna Gulzar directorial is based on the life of India’s first field marshal, Sam Manekshaw. Sam Bahadur will release on December 1, where it will have a box office face-off with Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal.
Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya of Dhoom 3 and Thugs of Hindostan fame, The Great Indian Family follows a man from a family of priests and religious men, whose life takes a turn when the details of his birth and lineage come to the surface. The Great Indian Family also stars Kumud Mishra, Manoj Pahwa, Sadi Siddiqui, Alka Amin and Srishti Dixit among others.
