“Working in Crew is nothing else than a milestone for me. It is part of a three-decade-long journey which began with Boney Kapoor,” says Tabu, who is currently basking in the success of her heist comedy Crew, which also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles. Tabu plays Geeth Sethi, a flight attendant in Crew. The film, which is co-produced by Anil Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor, reunited the actor with her Virasat co-star Anil.

Reflecting on her association with Anil and his family, Tabu, in an interview with Connect FM Canada, shared, “My association with the Kapoor family (Anil and Boney Kapoor) is 35 years long when Rhea was just one year old.”

Producer Boney Kapoor, in 1984, signed the Maqbool actor opposite younger brother Sanjay Kapoor for the romantic film Prem, which released in 1995. “At the beginning of my career, I did Prem which was opposite Sanjay. It was produced by Boney Kapoor. I later worked with Anil in Priyadarshan’s Virasat, an adaptation of the Tamil film Thevar Magan. I shared the screen space with Arjun Kapoor in Kuttey. So it has been a long journey!” said Tabu.

On her experience of working with Rhea Kapoor, Tabu added, “It is nice to see Rhea as strong-headed producer.”

Over the last 25 years as an actor, Tabu has to her credit two National Awards, a Padma Shri and a filmography that includes acclaimed Hollywood projects such as The Namesake and Life of Pi.

Crew, directed by Rajesh A Krishnan, released in theatres on Friday and has been receiving rave reviews, with both critics and audiences praising the cast for their performance.
