The legal battle over late entrepreneur Sunjay Kapur’s properties is set to enter its next phase as the Delhi High Court concluded on Wednesday, December 24, hearings in the civil suit pertaining to his personal estate and reserved its order on an interim injunction plea filed by Samaira and Kiaan Raj Kapur, Sunjay’s children from his marriage to Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor.
While the oral arguments had concluded earlier, Justice Jyoti Singh has stated that the remaining written submissions filed by the contesting sides have also been formally taken on record, according to news agency ANI. Hence, the court has made it clear that it will not entertain any further filings before the order is pronounced.

Following Sunjay Kapur’s sudden demise in June this year, Samaira and Kiaan moved the court seeking a share in the Rs 30,000 crore estate of their late father. They also raised suspicions about a Will purportedly written by their father, which they believe may be “forged and fabricated.” They even alleged that the signature on the contentious Will is forged. The plaintiffs further criticised Priya Sachdev Kapur, the entrepreneur’s wife at the time of his death, calling her an “acute gambler.” Accusing her of being “greedy,” they compared her to “Cinderella’s stepmother.”
Sunjay’s mother, Rani Kapur, had also challenged the Will, which named Priya as the sole inheritor of his fortune, stating that she was never informed of its existence until his death. Furthermore, she also pointed out that it does not even acknowledge her.
There were also accusations that Priya moved his assets abroad or concealed parts of his estate. During earlier arguments, senior advocate Rajiv Nayar, representing Priya Sachdev, refuted the claims and submitted that a comprehensive list of assets had been filed, along with supporting documents. He also rejected claims that Sunjay had an annual income of Rs 60 crore, maintaining that the figure was inaccurate. Responding to a specific claim regarding an expensive Rolex watch, which Sunjay allegedly owned, Nayar stated that its image was sourced from a fake social media profile, reiterating that all of his assets, as known to Priya, had already been disclosed in the court.
Priya’s counsel also pointed out that post-demise corporate actions were initiated in accordance with an email from Rani Kapur’s account sent shortly after Sunjay’s death. Rani, however, later disowned the email. Nayar also dismissed suggestions that the disputed Will was modelled on Priya’s will, stating that its format was consistent with a Will executed by Rani in 2024, which is already on record.
Meanwhile, Samaira and Kiaan Raj Kapur’s lawyer, senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, argued that the Will was marred by inconsistencies and suspicious features. The counsel also sought an interim injunction restraining Priya from dealing with the estate. Rani’s counsel, in the meantime, maintained that it was highly unlikely that Sunjay Kapur would entrust his entire personal estate solely to Priya, considering his close relationships with his children, mother, and extended family. The Delhi High Court’s judgment on the interim injunction plea, which it has reserved, will determine the course of the inheritance battle now.
