India woke up to a shocking Sunday on February 25 when news about Sridevi’s shocking death in Dubai left everyone stunned. In a career-spanning over five decades, Sridevi has charmed, mesmerised and kept her audience in awe, proving age is just a number. Her sudden demise stunned the entire nation which is still struggling to come to terms with the big loss. Bollywood’s ‘first female superstar’ who acted in over 300 films, was an actor who impacted millions of lives in one way or the other and will remain alive through her immense body of work. Sridevi passed away on February 24, at around 11pm.

Where was she at the time of death?
Sridevi was in Dubai. She had gone there to attend nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding along with the entire Kapoor clan.
Who confirmed the news of Sridevi’s demise?
Her brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor broke the news to indianexpress.com about her death. “Yes, it is true that Sridevi passed away. I just landed here, I was in Dubai and now I am flying back to Dubai. It happened roughly around 11.00-11.30. I don’t know more details yet,” Sanjay exclusively told us on the night of February 24, hours after Sridevi’s death.
Did Sridevi have a medical history?
Boney Kapoor’s brother Sanjay Kapoor, who reached Dubai early Sunday morning, told a local news portal that the family is in shock at Sridevi’s death. “She had no history of a heart ailment,” he said.

A day after her death, Dubai police on Monday said Sridevi died of ‘accidental drowning’ in her hotel bathtub after losing consciousness.

Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO), which is responsible for disseminating government-related news in cooperation with local government agencies, took to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon and wrote: “Dubai Public Prosecution has approved the release of the body of the Indian actress Sridevi to her family following the completion of a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of her death.”

Dubai Public Prosecution stressed that all regular procedures followed in such cases have been completed. As per the forensic report, the death of the Indian actress occurred due to accidental drowning following loss of consciousness. The case has now been closed.

When were Sridevi’s mortal remains lifted from Dubai?
After embalming, Sridevi’s mortal remains were transported from Dubai to Mumbai via a chartered flight. As per PTI, Anil Ambani offered his private jet for the travel which was entirely handled by her family.

What did the family’s statement say?
The Kapoor family issued a statement after Sridevi’s body was enroute to India. It read – “We thank the film fraternity, media and fans of late Sridevi Kapoor and all the well-wishers for their prayers, support and sensitivity during our moment of immense grief. We request you to kindly join us in paying our last respect to a remarkable actor, beloved wife and loving mother.”
When did Sridevi’s body reach India?
The chartered flight with Sridevi’smortal remains landed in Mumbai on Tuesday, February 27 at around 9.30 pm. The actor’s family members, including Anil Kapoor were present at the Mumbai airport to receive the body.

Family members received Sridevi’s body at Mumbai airport. Her mortal remains were then taken to her residence Green Acres in Lokhandwala.
When will be the condolence meeting?
The condolence meeting for Sridevi was held on February 28 at Celebration Sports Club, Garden No. 5, Lokhandwala Complex, Andheri West from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. After Sridevi’s mortal remains were shifted from Green Acres to Celebration Sports Club at around 9am, almost the entire Bollywood trooped in to pay tributes to the icon, amid heavy security. The Kapoors including Arjun Kapoor, Marwah family and Karan Johar were among the first who came. Sonam Kapoor came with Anand Ahuja. Tabu, Farah Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Sushmita Sen, Hema Malini, Sanjay Kapoor, Jaya Prada, Subhash Ghai, Satish Kaushik, Madhuri Dixit, Vivek Oberoi, Harshvardhan Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Imtiaz Ali, Saroj Khan, Ajay Devgn, Kajol, Rekha and Sanjay Leela Bhansali were among the several B-town stars who came.
When was her funeral?
The last journey commenced at 2 pm from Celebration Sports Club to Pawan Hans. The funeral and last rites were held on February 28 at Vile Parle Seva Samaj Crematorium and Hindu Cemetery, Next to Pawan Hans, SV Road, Vile Parle West from 3.30 pm.
Sridevi, who passed away at the age of 54, is survived by Boney Kapoor and their two daughters Janhvi and Khushi.
