Sonam Kapoor’s ‘Khoobsurat’ to release in September

‘Raanjhanna’ girl Sonam Kapoor’s forthcoming film ‘Khoobsurat’, an official remake of 1980 classic romantic-comedy, will hit the screens on September 19 this year.

The remake, produced in association with Anil Kapoor Film Company, will feature Fawad Khan, Kirron Kher, Ratna Pathak Shah and Aamir Raza Husain, apart from Sonam Kapoor.

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

Sonam Kapoor, who is stepping into the shoes of Rekha in the ‘Khoobsurat’ remake, said earlier that the legendary actress has always been her inspiration throughout her career.

“I am a big fan of Rekhaji. She has always been my inspiration throughout my career. She’s an inspiration for every actress in the industry. I had watched Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s ‘Khoobsurat’ and other films as well,” said Sonam.

The iconic film,which is best remembered for Rekha’s character of a vivaciousness and fun-loving girl,will be directed by Shashanka Ghosh. of ‘Quick Gun Murugan’ fame. The movie will be mostly shot in shot in Rajasthan.

Sonam Kapoor started shooting for the film after winding up her last movie ‘Bewakoofian’ in Mumbai in November last year. The actress then left for Bikaner to shoot ‘Khoobsurat’.

The original ‘Khoobsurat’ had a huge starcast including Rakesh Roshan, Rekha, Ashok Kumar, Keshto Mukherjee and Dina Pathak. The film was originally directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee,written by Shanu Banerjee and dialogues by Gulzar.

Ratna Pathak Shah and Prosenjit are going to reprise the roles of Dina Pathak and Ashok Kumar respectively.
