Sonakshi Sinha is cool as a cucumber when it comes to dealing with link-ups that affect only herself. But drag her family and friends into it and you can be rest assured that the feisty actress will not take it lying down.
When asked if she took link-up reports with a pinch of salt, Sonakshi told IndianExpress.com, “If it is only affecting me, I can ignore it. If you are going to drag my family and friends into it, that is not good. That is when I feel like I need to take a stand because people need to realise that along with the person that you are writing about, you affect a lot of people around them which is not right and they have nothing to do with your work or your life outside of how you are with them. I feel that is not right.”
Sonakshi also praised social media as a great medium that helps her reach out to fans to clarify things when baseless rumours start doing the rounds. “One of the plus points of being on social media is that you can clarify your stance and make sure that if something wrong is being written about you, there is misinformation that is given out to people, you can correct it,” explained the actress.
While Sonakshi’s father, the legendary Shatrughan Sinha, doesn’t care two hoots about her link-up reports, her mother at times gets a tad concerned. “My dad doesn’t get into it at all because he has been through it more than me. But my mother being a mother sometimes gets worried. So I have to really pacify and calm her down. She wonders why are they writing about her daughter and she gets protective about me.”
The actress, currently busy promoting Akira, is gung-ho about having starred in a film which she feels will showcase a new dimension of her acting talent to the audience. Talking about Akira, Sonakshi said, “Akira has been a positive experience. The film has taught me how much I can push myself to play a character. The response after the trailer has been fantastic, That encourages me. I have worked really hard on the film and want to be in that happy space. It’s a great action thriller.”
Talking about how she has never planned her life professionally, Sonakshi said, “Destiny has things planned for me. I never planned anything in my life. I never intended to be an actor. I got Dabangg. After that I didn’t know what I would do next. I didn’t know if I would be accepted or not. But I got accepted and the rest is history. Then I just kept doing films. Finally when Akira happened, I thought now would be the time to do something different and do roles that really push me to my limits and can extract something that the audience has not seen in me as an actor.”
