Actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha today praised the movie “Manjhi – The Mountain Man” based on the story of a humble labourer Dasrath Manjhi in his native place Gaya in Bihar.

“Proud of this inspiring story of a son of the soil of Gaya, the great land of my ancestors,” Sinha, who hails from Gaya district, said in his tweet message.

He hailed the decision of state governments including that of Nitish Kumar in his native Bihar, to provide tax rebate to the movie that was released yesterday.

“The earthy “dynamite” Nawazuddin Siddiqui is the discovery of the century. Radhika Apte is lovely and laudable. Wish roaring success,” Sinha, who himself has acted in more than 200 movies in Hindi and other languages, tweeted.

“Manjhi – The Mountain Man” is based on the life of Dashrath Manjhi, a poor labourer hailing from Gehlaur village in Gaya district widely known as the Mountain Man.

He had laid a road through the mountain using only a hammer and chisel in memory of his wife who passed away without medical treatment as travel to the nearest hospital took a lot of time due to the mountain terrain.

Sinha also had a word of praise for director of the biopic Ketan Mehta.
