After the wedding ceremony, Shahid’s father, actor and filmmaker, Pankaj Kapur spoke to the media, expressing his joy. “We are very happy. Our daughter-in-law is very beautiful. It is a celebration time for our family,” said the proud father.
Shhaid Kapoor’s stepsister Sanah Kapur told reporters that her bhabi (Mira) is very nice. “Our Bhabi (sister-in-law) is very nice. She is very pretty,” Sanah told the media. (Pics: Shahid Kapoor, Mira Rajput’s royal wedding reception in Gurgaon)
Shahid and Mira had a simple low-key wedding ceremony at a farm house on the outskirts of New Delhi. The couple exchanged vows according to the traditions of the Radha Soami sect as their parents are followers of the group. (Shaihd Kapoor posts first selfie post wedding with wife Mira)
A video of the ceremony has made its way online. It shows the groom, Shahid Kapoor seated along with his bride as the rituals and prayers take place. Shahid Kapoor wore a white kurta-pyjama with an orange turban, while Mira was pretty in a green and pink churridar. Thereafter, the celebrations continued at a reception which was held at the Oberoi hotel, Gurgaon for guests.
Earlier in the day, Shahid Kapoor also introduced his beautiful bride Mira to the media and they posed hand-in-hand for pictures. Mira was stunning in a rose-hued Anamika Khanna creation, while Shahid was stately in a cream sherwani by his designer friend Kunal Rawal.
Shahid Kapoor kept the details of his wedding under wraps, saying it is “my personal space”. “She (Mira) is a normal girl and I am a normal guy, and we should treat it like something normal and regular. It’s my personal space and I won’t get into the details,” he had said.
Guests Masaba Gupta, Kunal Rawal, Bosco Martis and Mubina Rattonsey shared quite a few pictures of the happy couple and the celebrations inside.
A grand reception will also take place in Mumbai on July 12, which will be attended by the industry’s who’s who.
Shahid will be next seen in Vikas Bahl’s “Shaandaar” opposite Alia Bhatt and “Udta Punjab”, which is produced by Vikramaditya Motwane. Apart from his film assignments, the newly wedded actor will be seen as a judge on the celebrity dance reality show “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 8”. (With PTI inputs)
