‘Shah Rukh Khan didn’t abuse’: KKR staff from 2012 recalls SRK’s Wankhede stadium outburst, claims Suhana Khan was catcalled
Shah Rukh Khan was banned for five years from entering MCA premises, including the Wankhede Stadium, after he was involved in an altercation with the security staff. The ban was lifted three years later.
Shah Rukh Khan was involved in an infamous fight at the Wankhede stadium in 2012.
Even after more than a decade of the incident, the question that still lingers on the minds of many Bollywood and cricket fans is what exactly happened that night at Wankhede stadium, when Shah Rukh Khan lost his cool? The said infamous fight still remains a talking point and has once again resurfaced in public domain as the former support staff of the superstar’s IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has spilled new information.
Shah Rukh was banned for five years from entering MCA premises, including the Wankhede Stadium, after he was involved in an altercation with security staff and officials of the cricket body in 2012. The ban was lifted three years later. The altercation had happened after Kolkata Knight Riders defeated the Mumbai Indians.
As KKR gears up to face Mumbai Indians at Wankhede stadium, naturally, mention of the fight was back in discussion. Joy Bhattacharjya took to X and posted about the match on Friday, writing, “The last time KKR beat MI at the Wankhede, I was still a part of that dugout. It’s been a while, but today might just be the day!”
Replying to which, a user wrote that the team has been “cursed” since the day Shah Rukh “abused” the security guard. The user later deleted his tweet. Joy then clarified about the incident, claiming that Shah Rukh’s outburst was the reaction of a father whose daughter was catcalled. Suhana Khan was with Shah Rukh at the time of the incident.
“KKR won two championships after that incident. And he did not abuse, I was there. And the next time, stay calm when someone cat calls your young daughter,” Joy wrote.

Previously, Shah Rukh Khan had explained how the incident transpired, and said that he was triggered by a word used by the security staff that was religious in nature. The superstar had said he was “very angry and upset.”
“My kids were there and I thought someone… Maybe they had a rule, that hatao yaha se. I told him, these are our kids and we are taking them. I just said this. There was a person there who said a word which I, as a Delhi person, felt like it was an abusive word. Even though the same word in Marathi is also rude. Thoda sa religious, galat tha woh (It was religious, it was wrong). I then lost my cool, main pagal hogaya and I went to hit him,” the actor had said in an old appearance on Aap Ki Adalat.
According to a PTI report at the time, the superstar had denied that he had misbehaved and maintained that he reacted only after children, including his kids, were “manhandled” by the security staff at the stadium.
