Zaira Wasim, who is receiving tremendous appreciation for her work in ‘Secret Superstar’ has turned a year older today and she celebrated her birthday in Mumbai. In a media interaction, the young star spilled the beans on how she gets motivated seeing Aamir Khan’s passion, and how she doesn’t have dreams as she is a firm believer of destiny.
Film director Advait Chandan who hosted Zaira’s birthday spoke about how great it was working with Zaira. He described her as someone who is “very shy and a private person”, and how she is not a person who opens up too much. “But when she is in front of the camera she is ‘switched-on’, she is a natural, she doesn’t know how to act, she actually emotes and says her lines with conviction.”
He also added, “What she did with wrestling for Dangal, she (Zaira) put in the same amount of effort in singing and playing the guitar.”
When Zaira was asked to talk about her experience working on ‘Secret Superstar’, she said, “I have this thing that until and unless I am not convinced about something I don’t do it, I just can’t do it even if I try. So if I am not convinced, I don’t sing. Even if people want me to sing for fun, I won’t do it because I know I am not good at it.”
Talking about the kind of person she is and the dream she would like to wish for on her birthday, Zaira said, “Actually I don’t have any dream. The last time I fought with my parents is when I wanted to adopt a cat, so I am not even a rebel.”
But now that she has two hit films in her kitty, does she have new dreams? “I believe in destiny a lot, so destiny will take me where I am supposed to go.”
Zaira also spoke about how she was preparing for her tenth board exams when she was shooting for ‘Secret Superstar’. So, how is she taking all the success that has come her way? “I sleep over my success. I don’t think this is my age and time to set a definition of success,” the young actor said.
Zaira’s mentor and actor Aamir Khan sent her a lovely birthday wish on Twitter. “Happy Birthday Zaira! Wish you happiness always! May you always shine as the SUPERSTAR that you are! God bless. Love,” Aamir wrote.
