Samir Soni says misconception that Bollywood has ‘druggies’ blew up post Sushant Singh Rajput case: ‘They think people have cocaine’

Samir Soni said if at all one starts taking this too seriously, then there are “brickbats” to deal with also and recalled the aftermath of actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s passing away. When the actor was tragically found dead in his Bandra apartment in 2020, the Hindi film industry was embroiled in a political storm, where actors, filmmakers, producers were called “druggies”, and a picture was painted about Bollywood being an inhabitable, unsafe place.

“I remember when Sushant Singh Rajput case came up, man, that was…. The image of Bollywood was, ‘All these guys are druggies, they sit in a corner and have cocaine,’ or that they assume someone wants to be a politician or people here travel in Rolls Royce. I don’t have it, and in the entire industry, only a couple of guys have it. It is just an image which is thrown around, otherwise these are just regular people, who, because you give so much importance, think they are important,” he added.

Samir Soni is currently seen in Fabolous Lives of Bollywood Wives, the Karan Johar-backed show which features his actor wife Neelam Kothari. The Netflix show recently dropped its third season.
