‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, which had entered the coveted Rs 100 crore club in the first week of its release, has earned $2.5m in overseas and this is going to put it in the global Top 10 soon, reported The Guardian newspaper.

The Salman Khan film had opened to mixed reviews but got off to a roaring start at the domestic box office.

The figures seem to be growing with each day, as Bajrangi Bhaijaan has now collected Rs 129 cr in total after the Monday figures came in.

‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ is the story about an Indian man who promises to reunite a Pakistani mute girl with her parents. The film’s release comes at a time when the leaders of India and Pakistan have agreed to meet soon and resume dialogue.

According to a release issued by film’s producer Eros, Bajrangi Bhaijaan was the highest overseas grossing weekend for a Salman starrer and also the highest Eid weekend gross in overseas of all time. The film was at number 9 in the Top Ten US box office charts and number 5 on the UK charts.

Commenting on the film’s performance, Nandu Ahuja, Sr. VP, India Theatrical, Eros International Media Limited, said: “Bajrangi Bhaijaan opened to good reviews from audiences and critics alike and the film has taken the box office by storm. It has also registered the highest box office in almost all territories of India for the weekend. The week ahead looks extremely promising as well with Monday collections being the biggest ever.”

Besides ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, there is another Indian film which finds a mention in the article – Telugu mega-hit ‘Baahubali’.
