Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who was shooting for Sooraj Barjatya’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, at havelis and raj mahals decided to stay at the haveli rather than shifting to hotel and the actor recreated his room as per his taste.
Though the ornate sets could have been recreated in a studio, both Sooraj Barjatya and Salman wanted to shoot at real locations. A haveli in Gondal, near Rajkot (Gujarat), was chosen to film a major portion of the family drama.
While the production team was put up at a hotel, Salman Khan preferred to stay at the heritage property and he recreated his room to his taste by painting the walls.
The striking artworks brightened the interiors and were admired by everyone when the actor hosted get-togethers after the shoot.
Once the schedule was wrapped up, the owners decided to retain Salman’s paintings in his room.
The haveli has now been converted into a boutique hotel and its new-found star status is making it an attraction.
‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ marks the reunion of Salman Khan and Sooraj Barjatya, after a long wait. The movie also starring Sonam Kapoor is slated to release on November 12, 2015.
