The two struck a close bond during the shoot of Fukrey and started dating soon after. The actors registered their marriage last year and celebrated it with close friends and family after a few months in October. Now, in a recent interview, Richa revealed that she had disregarded Ali when they first met, thinking of him as a ‘juvenile’ kind of person.
In a conversation with The Quint, she shared meeting Ali at a casting director’s office and found him to be attractive. However, thinking that there would be no meeting of minds. When they came across each other on Fukrey set, the other actors were always busy, and that got them spending time together. She realised how they came from the ‘same planet and had many common connections’. In a few years, they started seeing each other but decided to keep it under wraps for a long time.

Richa opened up about falling in love with Ali and shared how he’s also a gifted actor, and she really believes in him. The actor shared that they wouldn’t be together if they didn’t find each other talented. “Thoda snobbish hai but actor accha nahi hoga toh nahi chalega (if they are not good actors, it wouldn’t have worked). You need to converse with them also. I never wanted to date a protein shake guy. I have nothing against them, peelo but aur bhi kuch kar lo (drink it, but have something substantial too),” she added with a laugh.
The Masaan actor reflected on her social media and how she has stopped tweeting freely. Richa revealed that she now uses just three words to express herself on the microblogging site. She shared how she never cared about strangers’ opinions but sometimes it gets overbearing. “Everyone encourages others to live their life on Instagram and then question you on Twitter. I have always believed that if someone has a problem with what I say, that’s their problem, not mine. Also, I have a great coping mechanism, so it really doesn’t affect me,” she added.
Richa Chadha will be next seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansal’s Heera Mandi.
