After doing a short film in Bombay Talkies, Rani Mukerji was back in action with Mardaani. With rave reviews and Yash Raj Films exploring the new path of dark and realistic films, Mardaani surely turned out to be one of the best films of Rani’s career.
Now adding another feather to her cap, Rani Mukerji will be honoured by the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan along with the IAS officers of the state. We hear that the state government has organized a felicitation ceremony in Bhopal for Rani on September 12 which will also be graced by many other state bureaucrats. It is being said that when the actress received the invitation from the state government about this function, she immediately responded to the message positively.
Inspired from the real life story of a cop who works against child trafficking, Rani Mukerji played the role of a strong headed CBI officer who is on a mission to hunt down the man who runs a racket of flesh trade. Along with that, Rani Mukerji also worked towards safety of women during the promotions of the film. Considering that the film deals with a realistic subject like human trafficking, Mardaani was declared tax free in many states including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
Directed by Pradeep Sarkar, Mardaani released on August 22.
