Actor Rani Mukerji and producer Aditya Chopra, who tied the knot in 2014, have always kept their relationship private. The couple never shared their wedding photos, and in a recent interview, Rani revealed they may never do so. She also spoke about how Aditya encouraged her to take on the 2018 film Hichki.

During a conversation with ANI, the host jokingly asked Rani if she would make the wedding photos public on her silver jubilee with Aditya. “Maybe, that’s a very good idea. My husband is a very private person and he wanted the wedding to be very private. Obviously, I don’t think he would ever want the wedding pictures to be out.”

Rani Mukerji herself prefers keeping her personal life away from the spotlight. “I was always private, because my work and personal lives are different. If you’ve seen me through the years, I only make an appearance when there’s a reason for it. It’s not always, all the time. Because I do think that there are certain things you need to keep to yourself. You need to protect your environment slightly. Everything can’t be for everyone to see, because we are already so exposed, so that exposure is enough. There are things that you need to keep private – where you are going, what you’re doing, and what you’re doing with your family,” she said.

Rani continued, “I don’t see them as rules, I see it as a way of life. Rules are often perceived as something imposed by others that must be followed blindly. That’s not correct, because Adi as a person is very independent and he has a lot of respect for women. That’s how Yash uncle and Pam aunty brought him up.”

The Mardaani actor further shared that Aditya Chopra learnt such life lessons from his parents, Yash Chopra and Pamela Chopra. “When you see Yash uncle’s films, there’s a lot of importance given to female characters. And, Pam aunty was a very important person in Yash uncle’s professional and personal life. Adi follows that, because that’s the role models that he saw while growing up. The way he treats me in his life, there’s a lot of respect. He doesn’t tell me that there’s a certain thing you should do, it’s my choice. He tells me to go out more often,” she said.

Moreover, Rani Mukerji also revealed that Aditya encouraged her to sign Hichki, because she was too focused on raising their daughter Adira. “I got a lot of encouragement to do Hichki from my husband because he saw me getting into the role of a mother too seriously. He said, ‘You are Rani Mukerji, you can’t do this to your fans, you need to go back to the limelight.’ That’s when I did that film. As a husband, he was the wind beneath my wings to be able to tell me that go ahead and live your life. You can’t just be at home and follow one role, you have other roles to do,” she concluded.
