Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Roy’ has manged to earn a whopping Rs 28 crores in its opening weekend despite negative reviews from critics. And it has also become the highest grossing movie of 2015.

Roy, which also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Arjun Rampal, seems to have benefitted from the Valentine’s Day weekend. The movie had its highest earning – Rs 11 crore on February 14.

Arjun Rampal also tweeted about his movie saying it has become the ‘biggest grosser of 2015’. Since all the last releases including biggies ‘Tevar’ ‘Shamitabh’ had failed to make any mark. It also beat Akshay Kumar’s ‘Baby’ which had earned Rs 9 crore on opening.

Roy, directed by Vikramjit Singh opened in 2500 screens.

Indian Express’ critic Shubhra Gupta had given half a star to ‘Roy’ and she wrote: “I haven’t seen something as fuzzy and dreary as ‘Roy’ in a long time : just what is Ranbir Kapoor doing in a movie like this?” (Read the review here)
