Ranbir Kapoor, who debuted in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya in 2007, has established himself as a standout performer. Darshan Jariwala, a seasoned actor and Ranbir’s Raajneeti co-star, recently lavished praise on Ranbir, calling him the “best” actor of our times.
Darshan was Ranbir’s co star in his films like Raajneeti and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. Both the films have been significant in Ranbir’s career. Talking to Digital Commentary, Darshan, while analysing Ranbir’s career graph, said, “I think, in his contemporaries, he is the best. Looking at the choice of films, the parts he has chosen to play… Kyon ki aap jab ek star ki tarah apne aapko, apne career ko dekh rahe hain, toh ghode ka patta aa jaata hai, ki aise hi roles karne hain, but he doesn’t do that (Stars often end up doing only one type of films, but Ranbir doesn’t). He experiments.”
Citing Brahmastra and Animal, Darshan Zariwala highlighted Ranbir Kapoor’s versatility. “Look at his Animal, or Brahmastra. He never hesitates from playing different roles. If you see his choice of directors, the directors he has worked with, he has always learned from them. Prakash Jha is a great school by himself. His passion… I have done two films with him, Rajneeti and Aarakshan. So, Ranbir, according to me, among his contemporaries, he is miles ahead,” Darshan added.
Darshan also shared an interesting anecdote about Shahid Kapoor seeking Ranbir’s advice before shooting Phata Poster Nikla Hero, a film directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. He shared that Shahid asked Ranbir what he should do in Rajkumar’s film, and the advice he received was, “Do what the director does, not just what he says.”
On the work front, Ranbir Kapoor is now preparing for Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial Love & War, also starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. He also has Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan in the pipeline.
