Raaz Reboot — the fourth in the horror series starring Emraan Hashmi — leaked online on Tuesday, two days before its release.

Raaz Reboot has joined a long list of movies that were leaked online a few days before their release. Starring Emraan Hashmi, Kriti Kharbanda and Gaurav Arora, Raaz Reboot is the fourth in horror series. The film, directed by Vikram Bhatt, will release on September 16 when it will clash with Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu’s Pink.

Emraan himself pointed out the leak when he posted a heartfelt message on Twitter, requesting people not to watch Raaz 4 online. “Raaz Reboot leaked” was also trending on Twitter. He wrote, “About twenty mins ago, I decided to unwind a bit and go on to Twitter. I usually look at it as a way of connecting with my fans, who I look at as an extension of my family… It’s always a positive experience, connecting with them. But the first thing I saw a few moments back was the trends list which to my horror read “Raaz Reboot Leaked.” A lot of work goes into a film, whether good or bad. A lot of people toil away, striving to entertain you as well as run their kitchens. Piracy is a rampant problem, as we have seen over the past few months with a few movies that have been leaked online before their theatrical release. I won’t add fuel to the fire by harping about conspiracy theories… I won’t point fingers. I don’t intend to get into a public mud-slinging match. Instead, I will request you to give the film a fair chance by watching it in theatres. It’s a request, which I think anyone sensible will entertain. Love, Emraan.”

He followed it up with yet another tweet, “#RaazReboot is to be watched in the theatres. Stay away from piracy please!” Bollywood is facing a tough year at the box office with big-budget projects like Hrithik Roshan’s Mohenjo Daro, Katrina Kaif’s Baar Baar Dekho and Tiger Shroff’s A Flying Jatt failing to shine at the ticket windows. The spectre of piracy is additionally bleeding the industry dry.

Salman Khan’s Sultan and Rajinikanth-starrer Kabali were also leaked online hours before their release. However, audiences preferred to wtach their favourite stars on the big screen and the leak made no dent in their box office status. However, the situation is completely different when smaller projects are leaked online. Adult comedy Great Grand Masti had a dismal run at the BO after it was leaked. The online leak of Udta Punjab also affected its box office status.

What will also affect Raaz Reboot’s collections is its clash with Pink. While both the films are essentially different genres, Pink is already getting a strong word of mouth. An early screening of the film happened for Bollywood stars and the reactions of stars liek Kangana Ranaut and Preity Zinta have been overwhelming. But we will only get a clearer picture on September 16 when the films are out in the theatres. But all we will say is, say no to piracy.
