‘I don’t blow kisses to my better-half’: R Ashwin hints at Virat Kohli’s PDA for Anushka Sharma, says he’s dialled in as a player
R Ashwin spoke about the differences in his personality and that of Virat Kohli, seemingly making a reference to Virat's tendency to acknowledge Anushka Sharma's presence during matches.
R Ashwin recently announced his retirement from all forms of the game.
Cricketer Virat Kohli is known to celebrate his victories with his wife, actor Anushka Sharma, who often accompanies him on tournaments across the world. Anushka is a fixture in the players’ box, cheering for Virat from the sidelines. And Virat often acknowledges Anushka’s presence at the ground by blowing kisses in her direction. On occasions, he has also been spotted having video calls with his children, daughter Vamika and son Akaay. R Ashwin, who recently announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket, opened up about the difference in his demeanor and that of Virat.
In an interview, he said that he’s often compared to Virat, and that the public seems to think that he’s very serious as a person, whereas Virat is the more fun-loving one. Ashwin said that he’s super-focused on the job at hand, which is winning matches for his country. “I wanted people to know me for who I am because, a lot of times, Ashwin’s picking up a wicket, and Virat Kohli is all over the place. He’s just jumping about, and people very often tend to believe that Ashwin’s the one who’s absolutely serious and Virat’s the one who’s having all the fun, which is why somebody asked me the question: ‘Why are you serious all the time?” Ashwin said on Sky Sports Podcast.
