‘Who runs the world? Girls!’

It has been almost eight years since Priyanka Chopra was tagged desi girl and then soon after, the actor turned into a global icon with multiple projects in Hollywood. However, we forget that this dusky beauty has been ruling the world since the year 2000. Yes, it is has been 16 years from the moment when the actor was crowned Miss World. And shocking as it is for all of us to believe, no one is more surprised than Priyanka. It seemed as if the actor has relived the moment again if we go by what she said on Twitter.

The actor took to Twitter and wrote, “Wow.. 18 years old me with no idea of what I was getting into. But what a ride it’s been. Thank you all.” The former beauty queen made her acting debut in Bollywood with Sunny Deol’s film The Hero. Later, she appeared in Andaaz, which starred Akshay Kumar and Lara Dutta. However, as an actor, she started getting recognition for her negative portrayal in Aitbaar, which yet again starred Akshay in the lead role along with Kareena Kapoor. The actor has not looked back.

The actor went on to became a big name abroad after appearing in an American sitcom, Quantico. Priyanka, who was awarded a Padma Shri in 2016, also received the People’s Choice Award for “Favourite Actress In A New TV Series” for her role in Quantico, becoming the first South Asian actress to win the award. For now, the actor is prepping up for her Hollywood debut, Baywatch, starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron.
