Ace cinematographer PC Sreeram is disappointed as the controversial film The Kashmir Files has won the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration at the 69th National Film Awards. Sreeram took to Twitter to make a sarcastic remark about the movie and called it the worst film of the decade.

He tweeted, “Congratulations to all the #NationalFilmAwards2023. The Kashmir Files for being judged as the worst film of the decade.”

In another tweet, he questioned why Suriya’s Jai Bhim was snubbed at the 69th National Film Awards. He wrote, “We in the film fraternity are united in our happiness for this year’s National Awards. Did they leave out “Jaibeem” due to any particular reason or is it the voice of INDIA that has given them jitters?”

The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri, chronicled the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley during the early phase of the armed insurgency. Despite negative reviews, the film emerged as the surprise blockbuster of 2022.

Meanwhile, people in Tamil Nadu have also criticised the National Awards committee for ignoring films like Pa Ranjith’s Sarpatta Parambarai, Suriya’s Jai Bhim, and Dhanush’s Karnan.
