Parineeti Chopra has gone ahead to praise her contemporaries in a series of tweets. Parineeti Chopra has gone ahead to praise her contemporaries in a series of tweets.

Chance are that you always thought that the Bollywood actresses are glam dolls who are only suitable to play arm candy to ‘Heroes’ and eye candy to the audiences. Chances are also that you just might have been proved wrong, and very wrong, by the recent hustle bustle in the entertainment world. So, be it Priyanka Chopra’s ‘Mary Kom’ entering the Rs 100-cr club, or Deepika Padukone raising her voice against a demeaning article, the world is ‘femini-fied’ by the women of today, especially by the new crop of B-Town beauties.

Not only we feel it, but the talented actress, Parineeti Chopra also has gone ahead to praise her contemporaries in a series of tweets. She took to Twitter to express her elation over this new age women empowerment.

If you have been following the entertainment news of the recent past, you would know of all the issues the ‘Ishaqzaade’ actress is talking about here.

When the online portal of a leading daily gave an inglorious headline to a further ignominious set of pictures, Deepika Padukone took to Twitter to condemn the irresponsible behaviour of the entertaiment media. Not only her fans, but also her celebrity friends supported and left no chance to criticize the daily. ( Read – Deepika Padukone angry after daily publishes story on her dress )

Sonakshi Sinha has always been in news, more for her link ups and physical attributes than her movies. Even her outstanding performance in last year’s ‘Lootera’ was overlooked at an event and what came under scanner was her attire and curves. She (again) was recently criticized for her non-zero size figure.

Sonakshi posted a picture of a skeleton on Instagram and followed it with a very strong message. She wrote, “To all those who keep commenting on my weight, whether its a full picture, or a close up where you cant see jack. Take a good look at this picture. Now get this: 1) this ain’t ever gonna be me. 2) get over it. 3) i wish u could see which finger i hold up for shallow and idiotic people like yourself.”

Kangana Ranaut, who has always impressed the critics with her performances in movies like ‘Gangster’ and ‘Queen’, ironically, hasn’t been very lucky with the awards. She was once quoted saying that she would not want any fake award; but what matters to her that she does roles which really stand out amidst the clutter.

And how can one forget about Anushka Sharma’s ‘lip controversy’. When she appeared in the latest season of ‘Koffee with Karan’ with puffed up lips, the media wasted no time in berating her. But the actress didn’t sit back; she stood up for herself and put Twitter to its best use.

This was her whole clarification:

Lastly, Parineeti Chopra did something which can make any girl proud of her womanhood and sexual attributes, and not once but twice.

When, during the promotional activities of ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’, a journalist commented about how a girl reacts to a man’s sexual advances, Parineeti made the journo eat his words.

The second incident happened when she attended a promotional event for a famous sanitary napkin brand.

Aren’t we just proud of them?

These instances go to show that there’s more to these Bollywood actresses than just the glam body and looks. If they can make you want them while showing off ‘cleavage’ on screen, they can even stand up for what’s right.

And Parineeti Chopra is just as happy with this as we are. She praises the actresses who are not afraid to stand up againt few hypocrites. However, she also feels that every journalist is not like that and there are some who believe in responsible journalism.

Well! Kudos to these girls who stand up for what’s right and kudos to Parineeti Chopra who doesn’t shy away from praising her contemporaries. These girls, we tell you, are breaking away the shackles and writing new norms.

Well done!
