Dimple Kapadia made headlines when she bagged a role in a big-budget film directed by Christopher Nolan. The film, Tenet, released in 2020, was headlined by John David Washington. She played the character of Priya, the enigmatic wife of a Mumbai arms dealer. However, Neena Gupta had also auditioned for the role, but was rejected. In a recent conversation with Kareena Kapoor on her show What Women Want for Mirchi Plus, Neena Gupta recalled flying all the way to Los Angeles to audition for the role.

She said, “I auditioned for Christopher Nolan’s film Tenet in Los Angeles. First, I recorded an audition tape here and sent it to him. He selected me, along with four other ladies. Ultimately, Dimple did the role. She didn’t even go to LA.” She added, “I always fail in auditions. Auditions don’t work for me. If they don’t take my audition, I ace it, but whenever they do, I get rejected.” Having made her peace with rejection, Neena said, “It is the director’s image of the character. You can’t do anything about it. I thought I will ask Dimple, ‘Tu toh waha gayi bhi nahi‘.”
