Sushant Singh Rajput’s first biopic MS Dhoni : The Untold Story, much like the ODI cricket captain, has had a brilliant run and is not showing any signs of slowing down. The film is about to overtake the lifetime earnings of Akshay Kumar’s Rustom, one of the biggest hits of 2016.

MS Dhoni The Untold Story has collected Rs 127.12 crore net in India after completing 18 days in theatres. Rustom collected as much as Rs 127.49 crore, which leaves Neeraj Pandey film Rs 37 lakh behind the lifetime collection of Rustom.

More from the world of Entertainment:

Despite several other Hollywood, Bollywood and regional releases, the film has managed to make its mark. It was probably the good reviews and general popularity of MS Dhoni that kept people going to the theatres. It seems Neeraj Pandey, who is known for delivering hits with Akshay Kumar ( Baby) — has proved that he is capable of directing films which do not fall in the genre of crime or thriller.

MS Dhoni: The Untold Story marks a benchmark in Sushant Singh Rajput’s career who rose to fame right after his debut film Kai Po Che which was based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel 3 Mistakes of My Life. It was his interest in cricket in his debut film, that convinced producer Arun Pandey that Sushant Singh Rajput was worth playing Dhoni in the biopic.
