Manoj Bajpayee’s character in Sarkar 3 inspired by Arvind Kejriwal, says RGV

Actor Manoj Bajpayee is set to play a small yet important role in Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar 3, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan.

Acclaimed actor Manoj Bajpayee is set to play a small yet powerful role in Ram Gopal Varma’s much-awaited political thriller Sarkar 3. Director RGV revealed that Bajpayee’s character is loosely based on Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal.

Bajpayee said, “My role in Sarkar 3 is small, but it is a very important character in the film.” The Aligarh actor said this at the 18th MAMI Film Festival on Saturday. The 47-year-old who has worked with RGV in films like Satya, Kaun and Road added, “My association with RGV is quite an old one. So when he approached me for the character of Govind Deshpande I immediately agreed to do it.

Ram Gopal Varma who has reprimanded Kejriwal for having a doubt on Indian Army with his tweets took a dig at the Chief Minister once again.

The third instalment of the Sarkar franchise will have superstar Amitabh Bachchan reprising his role of Subhash Nagre. The film also features Yami Gautam, Rohini Hattangadi, Jackie Shroff, Ronit Roy and Bharat Dabholkar.

Bajpayee, whose short film Ouch was showcased at the festival, said that he does short films out of his love for them, even if he isn’t paid for that. Ouch revolves around two married co-workers who fall in love with each other and they decide to confess their relationship to their spouses on a specific date.

Ouch is directed by the famed filmmaker Neeraj Pandey who has movies like A Wednesday, Special 26 and M.S. Dhoni to his credit.
