Maine Pyar Kiya, Baazigar, Hum Aapke Hai Koun lyricist Dev Kohli passes away at 81

Kohli, 81, came to India with his family after the Partition, and made his debut with Gunda in 1969. However, people only took notice of his work much later, when his song “Geet Gaata Hoon Main” from Laal Patthar (1971) became a huge hit.

Kohli delivered a string of hit songs in the ’90s, and has also written tracks for recent films such as Varun Dhawan’s Judwaa 2, Musafir, Shootout At Lokhandwala, Taxi Number 911. In his career, he collaborated with music composers such as Anu Malik, Raam Laxman, Anand Raaj Aanad, Anand Milind, among others.

Kohli’s mortal remains will be brought to his house in Lokhandwala, Mumbai, on Saturday afternoon, and his funeral will be held in the evening at the Oshiwara Crematorium. His close associates Anand Raaj Anand, Anu Malik, Uttam Singh and others are expected to be there to pay their last respects.
