Launching a scathing attack on a leading airline company for allegedly disregarding customer support, renowned actor Lisa Ray shared on social media a distressing experience she recently faced when her 92-year-old ailing father’s medical waiver was ‘bluntly’ denied by the firm without proper explanation.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Lisa called out Air India by tagging its official account and demanding justice. “Here we go again @airindia. My father is 92, unwell and I have to cancel travel due to his ailing condition. Submitted doctors letter and the waiver was denied? How is that possible? Where is the empathy from an airline that is claiming to care about passengers (sic),” she questioned.

When the airline’s official account responded, requesting further details, Lisa posted a screenshot of her conversation with the travel agency. The exchange showed that the agency had responded to her email, stating there was no provision for a medical waiver for her request. The image also revealed that Lisa’s father had been hospitalised.
Born to an Indian father and a Polish mother, Lisa was raised in Canada. In the early 1990s, she moved to India to pursue a modelling career and quickly rose to prominence in the field. She made her acting debut playing a minor role in director Bharat Rangachary’s Hanste Khelte (1994) and gained widespread recognition after starring in the iconic 1996 music video “Afreen Afreen”, a ghazal composed by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and penned by Javed Akhtar. She later appeared in films such as Yuvaraja (Kannada, 2001), Kasoor (2001), Takkari Donga (Telugu, 2002), Water (2005), Defendor (English, 2009) and Veerappan (2016).
