Actress-politician Kirron Kher’s father Thakur Singh has died. The 61-year-old actresses’ father passed away today in the morning and her actor husband Anupam Kher took to Twitter to share the news. “Col Thakur Singh, Kirron Ji’s father departed for a better world this morning. He was one of d kindest persons I have ever met. Will miss him,” Kher tweeted.
In mid May, Anupam had shared that he is always happy to meet his wife and actress-politician Kirron Kher’s 102-year-old father. “It is always wonderful to meet and hug Kirron Kher’s 102 years old father Col. Thakar Singh. He makes us happy,” Anupam had then shared images on Twitter.
Kirron’s family still lives in Chandigarh, from where she is also the Member of Parliament for BJP. Kiran Kher made her film debut in 1983 in the Punjabi feature film Aasra Pyar Da, a non-descript production which sank without a trace. After this, she took a hiatus from films. Between 1983 and 1996, she appeared in exactly one film, Pestonjee (1987), wherein she acted in a bit role alongside her second husband Anupam Kher.

Her comeback film was by Shyam Benegal, Sardari Begum (1996). In 2002, Kirron appeared in Devdas (2002), alongside Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai, and was nominated for the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award. This actress is seen in many other films, doing powerful supporting roles.
