Filmmaker Karan Johar on Monday celebrated 25 years in Bollywood as his debut directorial Kuch Kuch Hota Hai released on October 16, 1998. While Kuch Kuch Hota Hai became a cult classic over the years, Karan, in a recent interview, revealed that he did not see the love the audience was showing in theatres when the film hit screens in India.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Karan recalled that his friends would call him and make him hear the audience’s reaction in theatres. “It released on October 16. And it was just the most surreal moment of my entire life. I wasn’t there actually when it was released.”
