Actor Kangana Ranaut became the first woman in the history of Delhi’s Lav Kush Ramleela to perform the Ravan Dahan on Dussehra, but her experience was marred by multiple attempts to shoot an arrow in the direction of the Ravan effigy. Videos of Kangana’s appearance at the Ramleela ground, which coincided with the publicity tour of her upcoming film Tejas, have been shared online.
One video shows Kangana, dressed in a red saree and surrounded by dignitaries, trying to shoot an arrow at the effigy while a large crowd watched closely. Kangana first two attempts failed to get the desired result, with the arrow landing inches away from her on the podium. By her third attempt, the effigy was set ablaze anyway. Her sister Rangoli could be seen stepping forward to say something to her as she attempted to shoot the arrow.

Casual observers couldn’t help but laugh at the awkward situation. “Only if she was riding her wooden horse, this would be perfect,” one person commented on X (formerly Twitter), making a reference to the memes that were created from videos of Kangana filming her historical epic Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, using a prop horse. “I should be compared to Tom Cruise for doing my action scenes myself,” wrote another person, recalling a claim that Kangana had made a couple of years ago, about a stunt coordinator declaring that she’s better at action than Cruise.
Kangana most recently starred in the Tamil-language film Chandramukhi 2, which partially ended her box office cold streak, that lasted for nearly eight years. Tejas sees her playing a fighter pilot for the first time; the film will be released in theatres on Friday. She hosted a special screening of the film for Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Air Force personnel recently, and also posed for a picture with NSA Ajit Doval. Kangana is also making her solo directorial debut with the period drama Emergency, which recently got pushed to 2024.
