The Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, which was one of the highest grossers of 2023, made Rs 915 crore worldwide during its lifetime. Kalki 2898 AD has now crossed that number. Animal was one of three global hits of 2023 alongside Jawan (Rs 1160 crore) and Pathaan (Rs 1055 crore), both starring Shah Rukh Khan.
Kalki 2898 AD is still the second-biggest hit for its lead star Prabhas, whose biggest hit remains SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 which made over Rs 1788 crore worldwide in 2017. The Nag Ashwin film is now the biggest hit for veteran stars Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Hassan, who have been a part of the Indian film industry for many decades now.
Kalki 2898 AD will now face competition from Kamal Hassan’s Indian 2, especially in the south market. In Hindi too, the film will face competition against Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira.
