Bollywood star Kajol has put her weight behind the cause of handwashing among kids with ‘Help A Child Reach 5’ campaign.
The 39-year-old mother of two said she was moved to tears when she watched a film about how one child dies from diarrhoea or pneumonia in every 15 seconds making it two million children each year, something that can be prevented through handwashing.
“As a mother,I was moved to tears while watching the film. It is simply not acceptable that a child dies from preventable diseases.
“I am proud to be supporting Lifebuoy’s ‘Help a Child Reach 5’ campaign. I would urge everyone to donate to the cause of spreading handwashing awareness. The simple act of handwashing can save the lives of so many children,” she said
in a statement.
The Kuch Kuch Hota Hai star also wants her fans to donate to handwashing campaign. The proceeds from it will go to Population Services International (PSI),a leading health organization for implementing handwashing programmes.
