Janhvi Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao’s Mr & Mrs Mahi delivers 2024’s biggest advance ticket sales, beats Fighter, BMCM, Shaitaan

Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's Mr. & Mrs. Mahi is leading the list of the highest advanced ticket sales for a 2024 film, ahead of Fighter, Article 370, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Shaitaan.

The excitement for Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummmar Rao’s Mr & Mrs Mahi is reflected in the number of tickets the movie has sold in advance of its release. As it debuts across the country, Mr & Mrs Mahi has delivered the most advanced ticket sales for any Hindi title this year. The sports drama is directed by Sharan Sharma, who also helmed Janhvi’s Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl in 2020.

Pinkvilla reported advance ticket sales figures for this year, and the list has Mr. & Mrs. Mahi at number one with total sales of 2.15 lakh tickets. The price of these tickets were Rs 99 as the Multiplex Association of India has announced Cinema Lovers Day on May 31st, which is why cinemas across India, including major chains like PVR-INOX and Cinepolis, are selling tickets at Rs 99 to boost footfalls in cinema halls.

Mr. & Mrs. Mahi has topped Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone’s Fighter, which was released on January 25. The Siddharth Anand directorial managed to sell 1.45 lakh tickets in advance. Third on the list is Yami Gautam and Priyamani’s Article 370, which sold 1.25 lakh tickets prior to its release (for Rs 99 per ticket). The film, backed by Uri: The Surgical Strike director Aditya Dhar, was released on February 23.

According to the publication, Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan sold 1.03 lakh advance tickets, Ajay Devgn’s box office hit Shaitaan sold 81,000 advance tickets for its opening day; Kareena Kapoor, Tabu and Kriti Sanon’s Crew sold Rs 65,000 tickets. Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi’s Merry Christmas, directed by Sriram Raghavan, sold the least number of advanced tickets. Janhvi has had just three theatrical releases in her career – Dhadak, Roohi, and Mili. Rajkummar, on the other hand, is coming off of the biopic Srikanth.
