Ishaan Khatter on whether there’s competition with brother Shahid Kapoor: ‘I am not a shadow of anyone’

Ishaan Khatter answered if there is potential competition with his half-brother Shahid Kapoor. The young actor clarified that he is not riding on his brother's success and has a journey of his own.

Ishaan Khatter and Shahid Kapoor, who are half-brothers, share quite a unique bond with each other. They are often seen sharing pictures and videos together on their social media handles and taking bike rides over the weekends. But the fact they are both actors often invite comparison between the two. Recently, Ishaan, who has appeared in several Hollywood projects in the recent times, spoke about being asked if there’s competition with his elder brother.

In an interview with Times of India, Ishaan shared that more than competition, he sees it as a blessing that he has an elder brother and they both share a common passion for cinema. He shared he learns from his brother and also shares notes. He said that his journey is his journey. He said that when one has a certain confidence in themselves, it comes from knowing who they are. He added, “I am not a shadow of anyone.”

Ishaan further stated that he knows he is the younger brother and he doesn’t try to imitate anybody. “I am not trying to ride on someone else’s success.”

Ahead of the release of his film Beyond The Clouds, Ishaan spoke to media during a fashion event as part of their film promotions. During the chat, Ishaan addressed the comparison with his brother and said that it is not the time to talk about all this. As Shahid is his big brother, he cannot compare himself to the Jab We Met actor. He called Shahid his inspiration who has been around in the industry for quite some time while he has just got the opportunity. He said they are a team and not competing.

In another interview for Rediff.com, Shahid Kapoor said, “We are bothers and people will try to see similarities between us. That (Comparisons) has already started, it can’t be helped.” He added, “I have always looked up to Bhai and will continue to seek his advice.”

Shahid Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter are Neelima Azeem’s sons. The veteran actress welcomed Shahid with her first husband Pankaj Kapur in 1981. Fourteen years later, she welcomed Ishaan Khatter with her second husband Rajesh Khattar.

Ishaan Khatter recently starred in the Netflix series, The Perfect Couple. He is also working on a film with his Dhadak co-star Janhvi Kapoor, which is scheduled to release next year. Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor was last seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya.
