Shah Rukh Khan lauds Abhishek Banerjee for Stree 2, asks Karan Johar to focus on filmmaking rather than hosting: ‘I have been wanting to call you’

At the press conference for IIFA 2024 in Mumbai, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan gave the audience a taste of his witty humour as he pulled co-host Karan Johar’s leg on stage. SRK also praised Abhishek Banerji for his performance in Stree 2.

Abhishek, who will be seen hosting IIFA Rocks along with Siddhant Chaturvedi, was seen admiring Shah Rukh at the press conference. When the Jawan actor came on stage, he responded to Abhishek and said, “Abhishek, it is so wonderful to see you after seeing your wonderful film (Stree 2). I have been wanting to call you.”

SRK also joked about associating with IIFA after more than a decade. He said, “They have called me just once before. Now they invited me after a decade. I would have always loved to come, but unfortunately, IIFA was hosted at the times when I was shooting.”

The superstar also poked fun at Karan Johar and said, “Please come for the rehearsals, Karan. He has told me he will not rehearse. He wants to do it on Zoom. Make some movies also, brother, how much will you host.”

While Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar will be seen hosting IIFA Awards, this year, IIFA Utsavam will also take place at the same time. Rana Daggubati will host IIFA Utsavam, which honours the best of South Cinema. When the Baahubali actor joined Shah Rukh and KJo on stage, he revealed how SRK had once thrown a great after-party for the entire industry.

This year, Rekha will also attend the awards, while Shahid Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Janhvi Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon will set the stage on fire. IIFA 2024 will take place at Yas Islands, Abu Dhabi, from September 27 to September 29.
