While Sonam Kapoor is today a name to reckon with in her own right, there is no denying that having Anil Kapoor as her father makes her a formidable force. Not too long ago, Anil had in his interview with us revealed how he had warned Sonam of staying alert against those who could try and extract revenge from her just because they couldn’t touch her father.
When we asked Sonam if she had ever faced a situation similar to what her father had described, the actress answered in affirmative. “He is right. It has happened. My dad once said no to a director. Then there was this film for which the producers and the director thought of me and they called me to do the film. Then finally at the last moment they dropped me. It has happened a lot of times. May be it is also because of me,” said Sonam.
However, Sonam has never rued such missed opportunities, for being Anil Kapoor’s daughter is a privilege in itself for her. “There are amazing things about being Anil Kapoor’s daughter. He has been in the industry for 30 years and 90% of people love him and fortunately for me they love me in turn. But some people don’t get along. So many times, I have rubbed people the wrong way,” said Sonam Kapoor.
When asked if she ever felt bad about it, Sonam said, “I don’t feel bad. I am so protected because of my father. People respect him so much that all of it comes down to me as well. I am not like one of those people who are like oh my god they are constantly comparing me to him. My father has worked very hard. Every parent works for his child. If I don’t benefit from it, what has my dad worked for.”
Sonam’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo has collected a whopping Rs 250 crore worldwide.
