She was also briefly seen in Ranbir Kapoor-Deepika Padukone starrer, ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, as Riyana, the travel show host, who encourages her cameraman, played by Ranbir to follow his dreams.

Having appeared in a number of television shows including ‘Royal Pains’ and ‘Law & Order’, Poorna is back on the small screen once more. She plays the role of a doctor in the third season of ‘House of Cards’. Poorna took to Twitter to share the news with her fans last month.

Deeply shaken by the horrific rape and murder of a 23-year old girl in a moving bus in Delhi on December 16, 2012, Jagannathan initiated and co-produced a play called, ‘Nirbhaya’, meaning ‘Fearless’, a name given to the victim. Written and directed by Yael Farber, ‘Nirbhaya’ explores the depth of sexual violence against women, inter-weaving personal testimonies and bearing witness to the incredible strength of the human spirit.

Poorna along with celebrity hair stylist Sapna Bhavnani, Priyanka Bose, Sneha Jawale and Rukhsar Kabir, forms the main cast of the play.

‘Nirbhaya’ premiered at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the largest arts festival in the world, in August 2013.
