Earlier Indian films were often criticized for being a stretched affair. But with time, filmmakers started adapting the Hollywood formula of keeping the films short and crisp. However, choreographer cum director Farah Khan prefers to keep a traditional approach.
Her upcoming film ‘Happy New Year’ is said to be stretching over a time span of 188 minutes, which makes it a 3 hour 8 minutes long affair. This film which has grand sets, lavish and colourful costumes, larger than life characters is a commercial drama filled with glamorous elements of music, dance, stage shows etc. It has been extensively shot in Dubai and also is sprinkled with action and stunts.

Adding more value to the film, is the hit trio of Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and Farah Khan coming together after 2007 film ‘Om Shaanti Om’, when Deepika made her debut in Bollywood. With an ensemble cast, including cameos by prominent Bollywood personalities like Anurag Kashyap, Vishal Dadlani, Sajid Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Dino Morea, Shah Rukh Khan’s wife Gauri Khan and his third child, AbRam, we believe that the film will have enough fodder of entertainment to feed to the viewers.
Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, ‘Happy New Year’ also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani, Vivaan Shah (son of Naseeruddin Shah), Jackie Shroff in prominent roles and is slated to release during Diwali, on October 24.
