Govinda’s daughter Tina Ahuja opens up about failed Bollywood career, says she’s living more luxurious life now: ‘Why would I travel by economy?’
Govinda's daughter, Tina Ahuja, spoke about her short-lived Bollywood career, and said that she became 'annoyed' by answering the same questions over and over.
Tina Ahuja is Govinda's daughter.
Govinda’s daughter, Tina Ahuja, opened up about her acting career not panning out like she’d hoped. Tina made her Bollywood debut in 2015 with the film Second Hand Husband, also featuring Gippy Grewal and Dharmendra. She hasn’t appeared in a film since, but has done a few music videos. She said in an interview that she now helps out in her father’s career, although Govinda is going through a difficult time professionally himself.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Tina was asked what went wrong, and what it feels like to be an emblem for ‘the reverse side of nepotism’. She said, “To be honest, I moved on very quickly. Because after a point, it became very irritating to me when people said, ‘But you have an institute at home, why are you struggling outside’. It became so annoying after a point, why should I answer the same question again and again?”
Tina said that she has grown to enjoy working with her dad now. “I decided that I might as well start working with my dad and start doing things that I enjoy. If things have to happen, they’ll happen. I don’t need to run the house, by the grace of God. I actually started enjoying working with my father, and I didn’t even realise that I’d left a lot of things behind. I was like, ‘Chuck it, I don’t want to do this. I would like to do things that I want to be a part of’.”
Tina said that there were a lot of misconceptions about her in the industry. “I was open to doing look tests, but people thought that I’m a star-kid, I’m Govinda’s daughter, so I might not be open to doing look tests. I can’t help it if people want to cook up stories about me in their own head. I was open to look tests, I was open to screen tests. But it’s fine. You can’t be answering the same question to every casting person. So, I moved on.”
Tina said that when she started working with her dad, they got an opportunity to bond. She said that she decided to shed the unnecessary ‘pressure’ that she was taking on, and embraced the life of luxury that she had anyway. “I was getting better luxuries and treatment doing plan B. Why would I be a main lead and travel by economy when I can work with dad and get a first-class ticket,” she said.
