‘Go Goa Gone’ to clash with ‘Gippi’ at the box office this Friday

Zombie comedy 'Go Goa Goa' clashes with teenage comedy 'Gippi' this Friday.

It’s time for comedies at the box office this Friday. Zombie comedy Go Goa Goa will clash with teenage comedy Gippi this Friday.

First up is,Go Goa Gone, which has been produced by Saif Ali Khan,co-directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK of Shor in the City fame.

The movie has been promoted as India’s first zombie film, which has Saif Ali Khan playing a Russian mafia, the zombie-hunter. The movie also stars Kunal Khemu,Vir Das,Anand Tiwari and Puja Gupta.

Since it is a zombie film,it was quite tough for the directors to get the look right. The makers roped in experts from Australia,Shaun and Tom Luthara, who also teamed up with make-up guys here to make the zombie’s look authentic.

If you aren’t interested in zombies then get set for Dharma Productions’ Gippi, which has been directed by debuante Sonam Nair.

The Karan Johar production has a bunch of newcomers including its leading lady – Riya Vij,who plays the role of ‘Gippi’ and Jayati Modi (niece of former IPL chief Lalit Modi).

The movie also stars Taaha Shah of Luv Ka The End and actress Divya Dutta, who plays Gippi’s mother.

The film is about a 13-year-old teenager Gurpreet Kaur aka Gippi — the ups and downs in her life.

For Karan Johar, telling the tale of Gippi was important to him for reasons more than one. Karan Johar has admitted to Gippi being his own story in many ways.

“Yes,for me it is a personal story from the times when I was overweight. So many children go through such a phase when they don’t realize that some smart kids are also insecure. This film is talking to every child and parent out there that we all have a Gippi in us and we should just know how to deal with it,” said KJo.
