Actor Ridhi Dogra has expressed her apprehensions about playing Shah Rukh Khan’s mother in Jawan several times. But her insecurity and fear were gone after meeting Shah Rukh for the first time on the film’s set. It was King Khan’s golden words which worked wonders for her.

During a recent interview, Ridhi shared how she never expected Shah Rukh to be so easy-going and friendly on the set. But she was in for a surprise when she met the superstar. “I was very shy to talk to him on the set because I have grown up loving him. But, he was very kind. The first time he met me, he told me, ‘Main amma nahi bulaunga tumhe (I won’t call you amma),'” recalled Ridhi in an interview with Hauterrfly.

Ridhi plays a jailer and adoptive mother of Azad (young SRK) in the film after his mother’s (Deepika Padukone) death.

The actor, who prefers to try new genres and roles with her every project, was in dilemma when Atlee offered her the role in Jawan. “When Jawan’s opportunity came up, I asked myself, ‘Are you ready to take this up?’ I was like, ‘Come on, Ridhi let’s do this,'” she shared.

Earlier, Ridhi had expressed gratitude towards the audience for showering love on her character of amma. She wrote on Instagram, “I’m grateful beyond words for everyone acknowledging my bit in the film. It gives courage to an artist to keep taking risks and I thank you for that deeply. 🙏😇.”

Adding what made her take up the role, she continued, “As an actor, I thought ‘Wow, it’s an Atlee film and I’m playing old, and that too to Shah Rukh! AM I MAD?!’ And I decided to do it. For the kick of it. To get uncomfortable. To stay mad.”

Jawan has been successfully running in the theatres for over a month. The film has earned Rs 625 crore in India and is also breaking records globally.
