Film Heritage Foundation to host maiden edition of BAVASS In India; Amitabh Bachchan, Martin Scorsese comment

The International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) has announced the third edition of the prestigious Biennial Audio-Visual Archival Summer School (BAVASS), in partnership with Film Heritage Foundation, a move which has been lauded by megastar Amitabh Bachchan and filmmaker Martin Scorsese.
Premiering in India for the very first time, BAVASS, a global film preservation training workshop will be conducted at the India International Centre in New Delhi from October 10–19. Film Heritage Foundation will host 50 participants selected from 125 applications from regions such as Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia, South and North America.
Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, Director, Film Heritage Foundation said when FIAF approached them to host the 3rd edition of BAVASS in Delhi, the team was more than ready to join them in “opening it up to the world and especially to applicants from Africa and Latin America that we know will benefit the most.”
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan said in a statement that he was “filled with a sense of great pride” when he learnt that BAVASS was coming to India and called it an “affirmation of the quality of the curriculum that we have developed in association with FIAF and the great impact our training programmes have had over the years.”
Filmmaker Martin Scorsese said in a statement that he was pleased to learn that FIAF and Film Heritage Foundation have partnered for BAVASS, which he said benefits “this mission enormously by educating future film preservationists who can share their knowledge and join an international community of people dedicated to saving the world’s film heritage.”
